The underground parking space is now used for scientific experiments.
They installed phytotrons, special chambers for growing plants in controlled artificial conditions, in which there are samples from the experimental laboratory of the scientific and educational Nature Center.
“In phytotrons, it is possible to maintain optimal temperature and humidity conditions, lighting, and even simulate the daylight length. The flasks contain the results of scientific experiments that are carried out in the laboratory of our center in the frames of scientific programs”, said Elena Radkevich, methodologist of Nature Center.
In Petri dishes placed in the phytotron, one can see the main material of genetic engineering, callus. It is analogous to plant stem cells, and even a small number of them can grow into a normal plant. In jars and test tubes there are samples created by microcloning method. They are kept under sterile conditions in the Murashige-Skoog nutrient solution. Plants from Florarium are also represented in the phytotron: they were cut and transferred to a special substrate for growing. All these plants will be prepared for planting in the ground in the future, but for now, you can watch them change any time of the day.
