Space Garden

Can plants live without soil? We will talk about biotechnology and methods of growing plants in space in conditions of limited resources.

Let's have a closer look at plant cloning, nutrient solutions and hormones. We will find out what alternative cultivation methods are used in pharmacology, and figure what a space greenhouse of the future will look like. In the practical part, we’ll learn how to work in a laboratory and understand why it is so important to keep it perfectly clean. Also, we will study growing solutions and create an in vitro plant.

Children younger than the specified age are allowed on the program only when accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket.

Genetic scientist, food technologist.

Graduated with honours from the Faculty of Technology of the Russian State Agrarian University — Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. Research areas: “Processes and Machinery of Processing Industry of Agricultural Products” and “Agronomy”. Elvira worked in the area of food products examination. Experience with children since 2016: conducting biology and genetics classes, as well as project implementation.

Anastasia Sosina
Biotechnologist

Graduated from the Faculty of Agronomy and Biotechnology of Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. Research area: "Genetics and Breeding of Field Crops". Anastasia continues her studies at the postgraduate course of Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. Research area: “Bionanotechnology”. Studies in vitro plants. Research interests: biology, biotechnology, physiology, breeding and genetics. Convinced that it is possible to explain everything about the world in an understandable way.

Elena Radkevich

Graduated with full honors from the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of the Russian State Agrarian University — Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. Research areas: “Fruit growing, viticulture and winemaking” and "Selection, genetics and biotechnology of horticultural crops”. Continues her postgraduate studies in the direction of “Breeding and Seed Production of Agricultural Plants”. Engaged in project activities in the field of aquaponics. Took part in the “Priorities of Russia” competition, in the international BRICS competition for young scientists. Holds honorary mentions from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation for the contribution and development of science in Russia.

Research interests: biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, breeding and genetics, agronomy.

Elena knows how to inspire with science. She is convinced that knowledge can be presented in an easy and accessible way.
