Tatar Kale

(Crambe Tatarica)

Tatar kale or crambe is an edible plant, somewhat similar to horseradish. The Latin name “crambe” is translated as “cabbage”. In the past, crambe was collected in bags and stocked for winter. Its roots can be used to make preservatives and sauces. Crambe tea was given to children. Its young shoots and leaves can be pickled, salted or added to salads.
