Loosestrife

(Lythrum Salicaria)

The plant’s Russian name “Derbennik” (Loosestrife) is derived from the word “Derba”, which means a damp marshy place. Sometimes, the plant is also called weeping grass, because it has a special mechanism for getting rid of excessive moisture. It trickles water through special stomata that turn into big drops that look like tears running down its leaves.
