23 July 2024
Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov, one of the greatest anatomical surgeons, known for his works "The Complete course of applied anatomy of the human body", "Illustrated topographic anatomy of cuts carried out in three directions through the frozen human body", made a real breakthrough in military field surgery. For the first time in practice, in combat conditions, he began to use ether anesthesia and plaster dressing, introduced methods of saving tactics for treating limb wounds and technologies for sorting the wounded.
N.I. Pirogov is not just a theorist – all the methods he proposed were practiced in combat conditions in 4 wars: the Crimean, Caucasian, Franco-Prussian and Russian-Turkish. The principles he developed were the basis for medical support for military conflicts in the USSR, including in 1918-1929, as well as during the Great Patriotic War. The second hero of the exhibition is Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Honored Scientist, laureate of the USSR State Prize, Hero of Socialist Labor, Professor Boris Vasilyevich Petrovsky – a surgeon ahead of time, scientist and clinician, health organizer and public figure. Boris Vasilyevich immediately after graduating from the university begins to conduct scientific and practical activities in the field of oncology, transfusiology, shock, defends his dissertation The visual design of the White Stone basement was created by set designer Damira Yanushkevich, designer Nikita Lukinsky – the viewer enters the space of a field hospital, the main decorations of which will be objects made of plaster and images of doctors. Neurogenerative animation by artist Valeria Titova is presented on digital screens – an intuitive understanding of the human body, the "dark forest" in which humanity was lost without topographic anatomy, the directions of N.I. Pirogov's work reinterpreted with the use of artificial intelligence: military field surgery, anesthesia, the activities of the sisters of mercy.
