The New Year Time’s Mystery Will Be Revealed

27 December 2019
On December 27, the premiere of a children’s scientific show took place at Nature Center.

The first participants of the show “New Year Time’s Mystery” were children of the “Big Family” charity fund. These are orphans, children who live in social shelters, come from low-income families and are in difficult life situations.

The children had a task to help Ded Moroz start the New Year clock and assemble clock mechanism. The details of this mechanism are available only after acquaintance with the masters of water, temperature, Earth, the Sun and science. With the help of real physicists, chemists, mathematicians who love science and know how to tell about it in an interesting and exciting way, children learned how to measure time, got acquainted with water, atomic and chemical clocks, conducted experiments, solved scientific puzzles and even saw a soundwave.

“I conducted an experiment of the Chladni figure for children. A soundwave makes a flat horizontal surface vibrate. The peculiarity of this process is that, when passing the surface, the wave forms a pattern. To visualize it we put salt onto the surface. After that, the salt begins to line up in a drawing. Children really liked this experiment. Everyone enthusiastically asked to repeat it,” said Dmitry Sokolov, lab assistant of The New Year Time’s Mystery show.

The New Year Time’s Mystery show will be held at Nature Center from December 27 to 29 and from January 2 to 6. Schedule: https://www.zaryadyepark.ru/schedule/81327/

The Scientific and Educational Nature Center is a modern platform where scientific festivals, lectures, interactive classes and workshops on natural sciences are held.

The programs of the center are aimed at providing additional knowledge in biotechnology, genetics, microbiology, medicine, geography, and ecology for schoolchildren. The laboratories have modern equipment that allows to isolate DNA, conduct PCR-based diagnostics, study food products for the determination of GMOs, sequence (decode) genes, clone plants, and study microorganisms under a fluorescence microscope.
