From 6 to 11 July, Zaryadye Park will host Re:Formers LAB, a composer laboratory whose participants will meet outstanding contemporary musicians from different countries. The laboratory is organized in cooperation with the Union of Composers of Russia.
The goal of Re:Formers LAB is to expand the repertoire and capabilities of classical instruments, in particular the classical saxophone; enrichment of composing techniques by combining Eastern and Western genres, as well as helping young composers to promote their creativity and education.
The laboratory will be curated by contemporary musicians: Dutch composer Maxim Shalygin; Stockhausen's student, laureate of contemporary music competitions Nino Zhvania (Georgia); composer Marina Shmotova; classical saxophonist, laureate of international competitions Vitaly Vatulya.
Online seminars and lectures will be conducted by composer and saxophonist Gordon Tudor (Croatia); the composer who wrote the largest number of works for saxophone in the 20th century Jacob TV (Jacob ter Veldhuis) (Netherlands); luminary of Indian classical music B S Manjunath (India); expert on carnatic music Raphael Reina and Sergey Poltavsky.
Musicians involved in the project: Vitaly Vatulya (saxophone), Maria Nemtsova (piano), Sergey Poltavsky (viola), Ilya Movchan (violin) and Sergey Suvorov (cello).
The laboratory provides an educational program that will include lectures, individual lessons with curators, reading sessions (readings of scores), as well as two live concerts of contemporary music.
The concert on July 6 will open the laboratory: it will feature works by Alfred Schnittke, Gyord Ligeti, Jacob ter Veldhaus, Pavel Karmanov, Polina Nazaykinskaya. For all visitors registration is required: https://zaryadyepark.timepad.ru/event/1692034/
