“For the second year in a row Moscow received the main prize in the category “World's Leading City Destination”, leaving behind London, New York, Paris, St. Petersburg, Rio de Janeiro and other leading metropolises of the world. Our beloved city is rightfully the “tourist capital of the world”. This year we had ambitious plans for the development of the tourism industry, and we will definitely implement them as soon as possible. I am sure that when the borders open, we will in a good way surprise guests again. There will be a new rise in the industry. Congratulations on the success of the Muscovites. And thanks to everyone who works in the field of hospitality!” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin commented on the victory on his official VKontakte page.
The theme of the ceremony was “Moscow time”. The hosts of the ceremony were actors Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Yuri Kolokolnikov. Within an hour, the hosts announced the award winners, who were determined by an open vote on the official website of the award from September 28 to October 25. The jury took into account the opinions of both tourism industry experts and travelers. This year, not only the achievements of the nominees were evaluated, but also the opportunities for future travel.
