This species is characterized by its extreme polymorphism. Plants of this species with an almost identical genome, depending on its condition in nature, can look quite different. For example, in the dry steppes and semi-deserts of western Kazakhstan, a form with very narrow leaves is found while in Southern Altai the plant has a broad leaves.
