Self-Heal

(Prunella vulgaris)

According to one version, the name Prunella, or Brunella, is the Latinization of the ancient Dutch folk name Bruynelle, indicating the brown color of the leaves and flower cups. According to another version, it originated from the German word ‘Brakne’ ("angina") since self-heal was once used for the treatment of this disease.
