Lesser periwinkle

(Vinca minor)

In his Russian dictionary, the lexicographer V. I. Dal noted that in some Russian regions the lesser periwinkle was called “grave plant” and “coffin grass”.  Evidently, these names came from the fact that the evergreen plant is often used to decorate graves.
