Hairy wood-rush

(Luzula pilosa)

Like many grasses found in coniferous forest, the wood-rush remains green during winter. As it protrudes from the snow its appearance is the same as in summer. When the first warm days of the year arrive the wood-rush flowers. It is one of the earliest flowering plants in a coniferous forest.
