Memory is an important tool for preserving culture. From generation to generation, culture transmits nothing but memory anchored to material objects. Thus, the theme of Actual Russia project 2020 is memory. In 2020, the exhibition of the “Actual Russia” project is dedicated to this topic, which introduces the works of Russian artists representing various art movements and schools.

The exhibition demonstrates works by Valera and Natasha Cherkashin, Julia Malinina, Roman Kazus and many others. For the first time in Moscow, guests will see a new version of Turandot play by AES+F project. In January 2019, the premiere of the opera by Giacomo Puccini took place in Palermo, in which the artists Tatyana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich, Evgeny Svyatsky, Vladimir Fridkes were involved as stage designers and co-authors together with the director Fabio Cherstich. The action of the opera takes place against the multi-screen video background. The multimedia part of the exhibition introduces a record of the performance made at Teatro Comunale Di Bologna in Italy.

As part of the exhibition, a series of workshops with artists, curator and mediator excursions and a discussion will be held. Thus, Valery and Natalia Cherkashin will talk about new media and the development of action art, Alexander Zakharov — about working with young artists and succession of generations in Russia, Vadim Murin will share his experience in organizing a school of contemporary art in the southern region of Russia, and Alexandra Weld Queen will talk about unusual for a woman profession of sculptor and “iron” in the art.
