The construction of the Kitay-Gorod fortifications stretched for more than 2 km and lasted only two months - from May to early July of 1534. A huge number of Muscovites were mobilized for works, and funds were raised by imposing a special tax. In 1535 stone towers of the Kitaygorodskaya fortress were laid, they were located on Nikolskaya, Varvarskaya and Velikaya streets, the last one was in Zaryadye and ran parallel to the Moscow River.

At the permanent exhibition on the Kitaygorodskaya wall, visitors will see 7 real size models of main guns related to historical realias of the 15th–17th centuries.

A special audio program will help you to immerse in times of the medieval district of Zaryadie: you will hear conversations of local residents and sounds of shooting guns.
