Search for both the “former” and, most importantly, the “failed”, “possible” Zaryadye in different eras with the professor of the Russian State University for the Humanities Alexander Markov within the framework of the project “Museum. Lecture hall".
Old English Court
September 23, 18:00–19:30
The central point of discussion is the concept of Zaryadye "identity": how this area thought of itself – from the "first Moscow City", a business and diplomatic district of the pre-Petrine era, to the projects of the People's Commissariat for Heavy Industry and the eighth skyscraper of Soviet Moscow. What plans have arisen here and why did something not come true, but a lot came true as part of the life of all of Moscow? The multinational history of the area, with its own cultural layers and dreams, can be read in the same way as the history of the Roman Forum or any other urban “eternal” place.
