Swiss Willow

(Salix Helvetica)

This dwarf variety of willows is one of the most common shrubs in the Swiss Alps. The plant prefers to live in altitudes between 1700 – 2500 meters on shaded northern mountain slopes. In spite of the name, its natural habitat is not limited to Switzerland. The shrub grows in the French Alps, Northern Italy, Tyrol, Scotland and Norway.
