Swamp Iris

(Iris Pseudacorus)

Iris Pseudacorus has many folk names in Russia – kasatik, lepeshnik, rooster-flower, wild tulip, and many more. The fresh rhizomes of the iris initially have a grassy smell, but when dried slowly, they emit a pleasant violet fragrance. As a result, it is used in the confectionery industry and as material for liquors. The iris’s essential oil is widely used in perfumery.
