The plant is widespread in the Caucasus. Brunnera received its class name in honor of the Swiss botanist and traveler, Samuel Brunner, who travelled to Russia in 1831. People call it the Caucasian Forget-Me-Not for its outward resemblance to that flower. The Siberian Bugloss starts to bloom from late April to early May and blooms for only one month. However, in warm summers it may bloom again close to autumn.
