Corydalis cava

(Corydalis cava)

The Russian name for this species, roughly translates as ‘hollow tuft’. This is due to the form of the flower being reminiscent of a small forelock of hair. In this variety, the interior of the tuber is hollow. The seeds of this plant have an edible part that attracts ants, which in turn take the seed far from the parent plant for fertilisation.
