Erik Gustavovich Laxmann, who gave his name to this herbaceous plant, was a famous Russian scientist and traveller of Swedish origin. In the 18th century, he collected important information about the flora and fauna of Siberia, organized expeditions from the Far North regions of Siberia to the borders of China.
