Feather Grass

(Stipa Capillata)

In agriculture farmers often have to fight this beautiful grass. Feather grass is more resistant to droughts than the valuable meadow grasses, so if an area has dry seasons for several years, feather grass can start to displace other grasses. This has a negative impact on the ecosystem, because feather grass does not form black soil. Additionally mushrooms grow in its rhizomes and oxidize soil. This process of vegetation degradation is called steppe formation or grass invasion.
