(Juniperus communis Hornibrooki)

Juniper has been used in many cultures as a natural medicine, which can work for various different needs. Native Americans for example believe that juniper berries are an effective contraceptive for women. Whilst the 17th century English botanist and doctor Nicholas Culpeper recommended them as a treatment against asthma and for inducing labour. Modern research on mice has shown that juniper berries can hinder the development of diabetes.
